Becoming a Yoga Instructor

Evaluating what we want to do with our lives and careers can be a scary prospect for anyone. This is even more of an issue if you want to venture into a career that is not your standard recognized jobs and careers. So, if you want to work outside of an office job or other recognized fields, it can be stress-inducing. If you are interested in becoming a yoga instructor, then you have probably already dealt with a couple of people discouraging you from doing that, and we understand where they are coming from, however, the decision ultimately is your own. If you are looking to start a career as a yoga instructor, you first want to look into getting the right credentials and certifications, and for that, you can check out programs like the Marianne Wells Yoga Teacher Training and others like it to start.

Once you have collected your certifications, your next step is to start advertising yourself. Of course, you should not make the switch to a full-time instructor immediately because that will not be financially sustainable. You want to start part-time so that you can slowly build a stream of clients/students. You can start by becoming an instructor in a known yoga studio or gym, and after spending a year or two there, you can slowly start doing private classes yourself. Once you have the funds, you can invest in your private yoga studio or you can continue giving classes in renowned and already established studios. This is a matter of personal choice and everyone differs in their approach here, however, you do want to pay attention to the pros and cons before making your decision. The best part is that your decision does not have to be permanent and you can reevaluate after another few months or a year.
